Led by Students, Lifted by Community

When people think about high school leadership, they often picture adults making plans behind the scenes. But at Marysville Getchell, some of the most important leadership is happening in classrooms, hallways, and student meetings — led by students themselves.

ASB exists to create connection. It brings students together across grades, activities, and interests to build school spirit, plan events, and represent the student voice. These are not just “fun extras.” These are experiences where students learn responsibility, teamwork, communication, and confidence; skills they will carry long after graduation.

What makes ASB truly powerful is when the broader community recognizes and supports that work. When students know adults, families, businesses, and community members believe in them, they step up differently. They take pride in their school. They take ownership of their ideas. They learn that leadership is not about being in charge, it is about serving others.

That is where partnership matters. Boosters and ASB are strongest when we work side by side: students bringing vision and energy, and the community providing support, encouragement, and resources to help those ideas come to life.

Join us on Monday, February 9, at 7:00 pm to hear from Theresa Borgford and two ASB student leaders as they share the impact of ASB, the partnership we can build together, and what is coming up this school year.

Action: Support student leadership by showing up. Attend the meeting, listen to student voices, and consider how your time, encouragement, or resources can help students turn ideas into experiences that bring our whole community together.

When a Community Shows Up, Everyone Wins

You don’t have to have a student at Marysville Getchell to feel pride when you walk past a school buzzing with energy. You feel it when you hear the band practicing after hours. When you see families
