Jr. Band Night: Where Confidence Begins and Futures Take Shape

There’s a moment every young musician remembers — the first time they realize they belong.

Not just in a classroom. Not just in a practice room. But as part of something bigger.

That’s what Jr. Band Night at Marysville Getchell High School is all about.

For one evening, middle school band students step into the world they’re working toward. They sit beside high school musicians who were once exactly where they are now. They learn from students who know the nerves, the excitement, the questions, and the dreams that come with loving music at a young age.

They don’t just watch — they play.

They hear what it feels like to be surrounded by sound. They feel the energy of performing at a basketball game. They experience the pride of wearing school colors and being part of a band that shows up for each other.

And something important happens in that moment.

They see themselves there.

Jr. Band Night is more than a clinic. It’s a bridge. A bridge between middle school and high school. Between uncertainty and confidence. Between “I hope I can do this” and “I know I can.”

Students will:

  • Learn directly from Marysville Getchell band students

  • Meet our high school band director

  • Experience what rehearsals and performance feel like at the high school level

  • Play alongside the MG Band during a live basketball game

  • Be welcomed, supported, and encouraged every step of the way

For many students, this night becomes the spark — the moment they stop wondering if band is “for them” and start believing they have a place.

And for families, it’s a chance to see the culture, the support, and the heart behind the MG Band program — a program built on teamwork, growth, and pride.

If you have a middle school band student who loves music, who’s curious about what comes next, or who just needs a glimpse of what’s possible, Jr. Band Night is for them.

Because sometimes all it takes is one night to turn nerves into excitement — and excitement into confidence.

We can’t wait to welcome the next generation of Chargers. 🎶⚡💚
