Spring Sports Kick Off

💚💛 Spring Sports Are Here, Chargers! 💛💚

Last night we kicked off the Spring Sports season at Marysville Getchell, and it was incredible to see so many athletes and families ready for the season ahead.

One of the things we talked about was how special this community is. At Getchell, we are not just shaping one season… we are building a legacy.

To all of our freshman families and first-time sports parents — welcome! You are now part of the Charger family. And to our seasoned parents… look around, introduce yourselves, and help our new families feel at home. The strength of our programs comes from all of us working together.

A quick reminder about what the Green & Gold Booster Club does.

We are here to support our teams and our student athletes, but Boosters doesn’t run the teams. The real magic happens when parents step up to help with fundraising, concessions, tickets, volunteering, and cheering in the stands.

And here’s something many people don’t realize: The pay-to-play fee families pay does not go directly to the teams. It helps cover things like facility maintenance, coach stipends, referees, transportation, and other district costs.

Things like uniforms, equipment, practice gear, tournaments, travel items, and team meals often rely on fundraising and community support.

That’s why when teams share fundraising opportunities, it truly matters. Share the links. Send the texts. Spread the word. Every bit of support helps our student athletes have the experience they deserve.

Which brings us to our biggest fundraiser of the year…

Break out your pastel or neon (the debate continues on which one is more Miami Vice 😄) and join us for a fun night of dinner, friends, and incredible auction items — all while raising money for our teams.

Last year this event raised over $50,000 in one night for Charger athletics.

But to make that happen again, we need auction baskets from our teams. Parents, get together, get creative, and put something fun together!

And finally, one simple piece of advice for all sports parents…

Get involved.

Yes, our kids are in high school… but they still notice when parents show up, volunteer, and support their teams.

That support is what makes Charger athletics so special.
